Death:
12 Oct 1877 (age 64)
Cause: drowning
At an inquest held in the Black House Henney on 13 October 1877. In evidence Edgar Danbridge said he was passing from the mill at East Hanney over a bridge spanning the brook when he saw a body in the water under the bridge. He call some men from the mill and they got the body which he recognised as Charles Froud. The body was lying face down in six inches of water but at night it would have been nearly two feet. Joseph Steele said he was the landlord of the Lamb at West Hanney and Charles Froud was at his house on Thursday evening from 6 o'clock until about quarter pass eight. He had had plenty of beer but was not drunk and seemed in his usual health and spirit. The jury found that Charles Froud was found drowned and suffocated in a certain brook. He had no marks of violence but how or by what means he drowned and suffocated no evidence thereof doth appear to the Jurors.
